About the workshop

The beautiful and amazing Yoana Nikolova back in Sweden! She was just featured in Playboy Germany and she was Miss February! Yoana is always great to work with. Her smile and her positive attitude always brings a great mood and a lot of fun to our workshops!

On this workshop we will shoot both natural light and studio light. There will be at least one set indoors with window light. One or two sets outdoors and something in the studio. How much of each depends of what kind of weather we have that day. This will give you a great variety in the type of photos you will walk away with from the day. All of the lighting skill approaches I will teach you can be utilized in both natural light and in the studio. Learning more about natural light will also improve your skills with studio lights and the other way around. In case of an impossible situation such as rain all day we will stay in the studio.

Everything I will teach and you will learn are my original ideas that have been tested over years of hard work as there are no short cuts in photography! Only five participants each day will result in much individual quality shooting time.

We will shoot four styles each day from fashion to lingerie and semi nude. Expand your portfolio with beautiful images shot with natural light with the beautiful Yoana! Drinks, coffee and snacks are included! The workshop will be in English and the model also speaks English.

Individual coaching

This is available on Friday May 3rd. There are two slots available, 11.00-14.00 and 15.00-18.00. An individual coaching is tailored for your needs and it includes a lot more shooing time than a workshop. Great opportunity to get more deep knowledge and to make sure you get a lot of great photos of an amazing model with my guidance!

Some of the main topics

- How to achieve good colors and especially great skin tones
- The foundation of good and beautiful light
- Difference between natural light and studio light
- Creating different looks with the same light
- Knowing your limitations and advantages and work with them
- Shaping the model with the light
- Speed up your workflow
- Metering and exposure
- Getting it right in camera
- Posing and angles
- Interaction with models

Knowledge and equipment

To participate there is no special knowledge or skill level needed other than knowing about the basic camera settings such as iso, aperture, shutter speed, white balance etc. My way of working and explaining is very easy to understand. I can promise great results even if you have nerver worked a model or shot with studio lights before.
In terms of equipment it is not that much needed. I recommend 50mm or 85mm or 24-70mm or 70-200mm or similar lenses. Ideally you should have a lens with a focal length between 50mm and less than 100mm. Since we will shoot natural light it is an advantage to have a prime lens with a large maximum aperture or a zoom lens with 2.8 aperture.

Location

The workshop will begin at my home in Malmö. The location is within walking distance from trains and public transport. It is easy access from the highway or if you come from Denmark with the car (or train). Parking is available in the area. The exact address will be provided shortly after booking.
If you wish to travel from another country you should look for flights to Copenhagen. It is very easy to fly there from many cities around Europe. There is just short train ride to Malmö which you can get straight from Copenhagen airport.
