Workshop with Katline in Lyon, France on May 25th & 26th

Workshop with Katline in Lyon, France on May 25th & 26th

About the workshop

My first workshop in France! It will be in Lyon with the amazing model Katline! It is always a pleasure to work with her. She inspires and she always come with a very positive attitude! Working with great models as Katline makes me a better photographer! This workshop will be more exclusive than my regular workshops with only 3-4 photographers each day.

We will shoot both natural light and flash. This will give you lot’s of great photos to walk away with from the day. All of the lighting skill approaches I will teach you can be utilized in both natural light and in the studio. Learning more about natural light will also improve your skills with studio lights and the other way around. Below you can see some example photos (not mine) of what can be done with the natural light in this location.

Everything I will teach and you will learn are my original ideas that have been tested over years of hard work as there are no short cuts in photography! Only five participants each day will result in much individual quality shooting time.

We will shoot four styles each day from lifestyle to sensual to nude. Expand your portfolio with beautiful images shot with natural light with the beautiful Katline! Drinks, coffee and snacks are included! The workshop will be in English and the model also speaks English. A translator between French and English is available in case it is needed.

Some of the main topics

- How to achieve good colors and especially great skin tones
- The foundation of good and beautiful light
- Difference between natural light and studio light
- Creating different looks with the same light
- Knowing your limitations and advantages and work with them
- Shaping the model with the light
- Speed up your workflow
- Metering and exposure
- Getting it right in camera
- Posing and angles
- Interaction with models

Knowledge and equipment

To participate there is no special knowledge or skill level needed other than knowing about the basic camera settings such as iso, aperture, shutter speed, white balance etc. My way of working and explaining is very easy to understand. I can promise great results even if you have nerver worked a model or shot with studio lights before.
In terms of equipment it is not that much needed. I recommend 50mm or 85mm or 24-70mm or 70-200mm or similar lenses. Ideally you should have a lens with a focal length between 50mm and less than 100mm. Since we will shoot natural light it is an advantage to have a prime lens with a large maximum aperture or a zoom lens with 2.8 aperture.

Location

The location is in the centre of Lyon. It is only 5 minutes to walk from Lyon Perrache train station. Parking is available in the area if you come by car. The exact address will be provided shortly after booking.

Photo event in Dongen, Netherlands on June 22nd & 23rd

Photo event in Dongen, Netherlands on June 22nd & 23rd

About the event

I'm pleased to announce that I will be returning to the Netherlands in June to host another photo event. This will be a two-day event featuring three exceptional models. To ensure much shooting time for everyone, we are limiting participation to just six photographers per day. You have the option to join for one or both days.

The first model I've chosen for our upcoming event is the remarkable Layana. Standing tall, she is a visual delight with a commanding presence. Layana's captivating curves add an element of sensuality, enhancing her allure. Despite many models in the industry, Layana's distinctive qualities make her an ideal choice for our event.

Laure Surlerivage, our second model, brings an uncommon depth of artistic flair to our event. Her intriguing appearance, characterized by her unique style and allure, adds a touch of intrigue that captivates the audience. Moreover, Laure's distinctive poses, a blend of elegance and creativity, set her apart from the crowd, making her a natural choice for our event. Her contribution promises to elevate the event, adding a layer of sophistication and artistic intrigue.

Hanna, our third model, has been selected due to a variety of reasons that surfaced during our recent collaboration. Her professional demeanor and warm personality make her an ideal choice for our upcoming event. Moreover, Hanna is not just an ordinary model. She possesses a unique style that sets her apart and adds a touch of individuality to her work. This distinct style has had a profound impact on me as a photographer and has served as a source of inspiration. Hanna's combination of personal warmth and professional style is sure to contribute to the success of our event.

This is a photo event, not a regular workshop, so the emphasis will be on shooting time. Participants will be grouped into pairs, each with a model to inspire creativity. We will rotate the groups, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to shoot with each model, which guarantees a lot of shooting time.

My role is to provide assistance, share innovative concepts, and ignite your creativity. My aim is to ensure you leave with extraordinary, one-of-a-kind photographs of our trio of exquisite, professional models. This unique setting further enhances the visual appeal and distinctiveness of your captures. Let's transform your vision into reality together!

The location

The highlight of this event, apart from the models, is the amazing location. Our expansive studio features several rooms, each with its distinct style. Additionally, there's a large "factory" section providing a rugged backdrop for our shoots. Take a look at the photos below. The four black and white photos were captured by me in the factory area during last year's event.

Knowledge and equipment

To participate, no special knowledge or skill level is required; however, you must be able to shoot independently at all times. While I'll be there to help and provide advice as needed, it's essential for you to operate without continual assistance. When it comes to equipment, you don't need much. I suggest lenses of 50mm, 85mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, or similar. Ideally, your lens should have a focal length between 50mm and less than 100mm. As we'll be shooting in natural light, it's beneficial to have a prime lens with a large maximum aperture or a zoom lens with a 2.8 aperture.

Where and how to get there

The location is situated in a place called Dongen, near the Belgium border and not too far from Germany. For instance, it's less than a 2.5-hour drive from Cologne. If you're flying in, you can land in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Eindhoven, and cover the remaining distance by train. From Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the train to Breda is available. From Eindhoven, you can journey to Tilburg. Pick-ups from these locations will be organized as needed. Additionally, there are several hotels I can recommend for anyone planning to stay overnight and participate on both days. Don't hesitate to ask if you need any information regarding travel possibilities.

When: June 22nd & 23rd
Where: Dongen, Netherlands
Time: 11.00-18.00
Participants: Up to 6 each day
Price: €659 each day. You can book one day or both.
